I need to lose over 50 pounds and am walking an hour a day on the treadmill at 3 miles per hour.

I eat less than 1000 calories a day.

Will this help me lose weight?

It sure will, but you better eat more than that. Your gonna get sick. That is to few calories, your body needs more.

Absolutely!! And you could increase those calories to at least 1500 a day….I recommend walking for 2 hours each day,,, you will get your results>>>

yes it will. i suggest u work harder too. you can also try running, which will burn more calories. and eat healthier. i’m sure with determination and hardwork you’ll lose those pounds.

Just walking will not make you loose weight, you need to eat right and exercise consistently. Walking any amount a day is good for you. If you stick to your diet and walk an hour a day you will make a difference even if its not noticeable. You will be more fit have more energy and just feel better altogether. Also if every week maybe add 10 minutes to the walk and try walking a bit faster, You will thank yourself for it

You need to burn 3500 calories a day to loose ONE Pound, try eating a bit more calories, as this is insufficient and you will become ill, as you are not gettin the energy to excercise in the first place.

Well i suppose there is no such thing as an average person , but most adults should burn a minimum of 2000 calories per day. Experts tell us that a pound of fat is equal to about 3500 calories per day. So all things being equal, this should mean that you are running at a loss of a minimum of 1000 calories a day. so at this rate without walking you should lose weight.

However, when the body is being starved of food and in your case that is certainly happening, they say , it trys to become more efficient and reducing the rate that it burns calories. The body believes it is experiencing a famine.

The maintenance of muscle tissue through exercise is essential and ensuring there is enough protein in the diet. Muscle will continue to burn a lot of calories even when your in bed asleep.
So a certain amount of walking , especially if you are over weight will build and maintain muscle. Unfortunately , too much walking and you will lose muscle.

Exercise is essential to build and maintain that muscle, so that you continue to burn those calories. Without the exercise the body just slows down. Too much exercise and you lose muscle and the calorie burning will slow down anyway.

I think walking for an hour a day is a good start, but you may wish to consider swimming every third day, giving the muscles you exercise an opportunity to rest and develop.

all i can say is do over do it on the calories or the exercise or you will find it difficult to get the weight off. Always remember the importance of muscle it keeping the metabolism nice and high.
