I have a best friend that wanted to start dieting right now before school starts. But she knows she won’t lose 50 pounds before school starts which is on the Aug. 25th. She’s 17 yrs. old and weighs about 185 or 186. She’s 5′5″. I know that losing weight faster could be depending on your age and metabolism. But what could she do?

(Please, I want reasonable answer, NO stupidity. Not trying to be rude but I’m being sincere, Thanks!)

The fastest you should lose weight and be healthy is about 2 pounds a week. Yes, it’s slower than many people want, but it seems most people want results that will mess up their body. :( If someone is morbidly obese, they can lose weight faster than that at first, but the weight loss will slow down as they lose their fat.

So yeah, in your friend’s case, it’d be AT MOST 2 pounds a week. For 50 pound weight loss, the fastest she should lose it is 25 weeks (about 6 months).
