lose 50 pounds
Lose 50 Pounds FAQ:

What are the chances? I am 23 years old, 5′4 and almost 200 pounds :(…but I don’t even eat a ton. What do you recommend my caloric intake be? Any other tips? Has anyone out there been able to do this without killing themselves?…or is 30 pounds more reasonable? :(
I know people will say you can do whatever you put your mind to…but is 50 pounds in 4 months realistic even? I just want to be truthful with myself. I’m so tired and depressed about being fat.

Yes you can!

It’s probably more rational to shoot for 30 pounds. The first 10 pounds or so will come off quickly, as it’s water weight, so that’s cool, but after that, the REAL challenge begins.

The formula for losing those extra pounds is easy - consume less food and workout more - the issues surface when we really try to put that into operation! There are plenty of temptations in the big wide world don’t you think?! The only method which definitely showed results for me is wu-yi tea, it can be checked out in the resource box below, they have a small number of free trials left, it was featured in Fox News and USA Today. I shed thrity pounds, it definitely does produce success!

Not 50 lbs, maybe 10. 1000 calories, at least 30 minutes of exercise and avoid fattening foods.

No, set a little lower, around fortyish or thirty five.

june is a few months away, but why don’t you try aiming towards a slightly lower goal??? personally, i think 50 is too much

Work hard. I believe you can do it and I believe its possible. You just have to be willing to diet correctly and put out 100% in your workouts.

Nida S 01.06.09 at 6:32 pm

its going to be hard, and really its better to go about it slower, by losing about a pound per week. its possible though.

Roxanne G 01.09.09 at 5:49 pm

yes you can do it. since you are trying to lose weight and not maintain it decrease your caloric intake to 1200 a day and exercise 5 days a week. incorporate weight training, to do this properly it would be worth your while to hire a trainer to show you a routine specifically for you to do on your own. take up more physical activities and learn how to cook delicious low fat food. avoid eating out stop drinking soda and drink a ton of water and if you don’t like water put lemon in it. good luck to you if you really want it you can do it.

Don’t feel tired or depressed first of all, if you do get hungry eat healthy foods like an apple/fruits. Yes i would say 50 lbs is almost impossible to loose; and if you get to the point where you want to shed off those lbs and become obsessive with your loosing of weight it could lead to gaining more lbs.

mamitasbc 01.11.09 at 12:02 pm

Its possible. But why dont you start with losing 10 pounds, and when you get that in 2 weeks or 2 months, make the next objective. Its easier, or else you are going to be easily frustrated.

ItlBella22 01.13.09 at 11:45 pm

thats not realistic ,…start working out , nothing ever happens fast …if you keep a routine of eating right and working out probably 15-25 pounds …you can do it just not 50 …I am 21 and I used to weigh 150 after I had my son ….it took me 8 months since I rarely worked out for the last 3 months of my pregnancy…good luck , just keep your realistic mind set …your on the right track

daniaka 01.15.09 at 7:55 pm

Take it slow! Healthy weight loss is 2 pounds a week and realistically, you won’t see success every week. Maybe make 50 your long term goal, but for now, concentrate on little steps, like 5 pounds a month. It’s a smaller goal but you will probably lose more anyway. Stay focused, eat right (because eating very little is not good either), exercise, and you’ll see the pounds fall off! Even if you’re not 50 pounds lighter by June, people will notice a difference. Good luck!

tardelli_1982 01.18.09 at 9:02 pm

good luck :)

Please It surprises me every day when I see that people are still going on “diets” after time and time again it has been proven that diets are not the answer to long term weight loss. Oprah Winfrey finally figured it out after decades of rollercoaster weight problems. She was so enlightened that she even wrote a book about it.
The problem with “diets” is that you can lose weight but what do you do when you reach your target weight? 95% on the time, people not only put the weight right back on but gain an additional 10%. What Oprah figured out is that losing weight and keeping it off requires a lifestyle change. If you are overweight then what you are doing on a daily basis is obviously not working.
If you want to lose weight, gain muscle or just improve your overall health and keep it that way what you do the first day, the first minute of your “change” needs to be the same thing you are going to be doing 20 years from now. Diets by definition are temporary and therefore have nothing built into them to help you keep weight off.
There are no true “quick fixes” to weight loss and weight management. If there were then the world would not be full of overweight people. The first thing you need to accept is that you are unhappy with how you look or feel or both. Maybe you just want to be even better than you are now. The next step is to make a commitment to yourself that no matter what, you are going stay with it for a minimum of six months.
The most important and difficult part is getting started. Beginners often make a couple of key mistakes. 1) They set their goals to high- think about how long it took you to gain the weight you are looking to lose. It is only fair to assume it will take equally as long to lose. People hit their first two weeks with the gusto of a marathon runner and suffer through major body pain and miserable starvation only to be disappointed by the results on the scale and in the mirror. It will take time for your body to adjust to a new way of eating and having to deal with exercise so start small. Begin by cutting one or two bad things out of your diet and taking small walks in the morning or evening. Slowly build on this as your motivation and health improves.
2) STAY OFF THE SCALE!!!!!!! Checking the scale will only discourage you. It can take up to two weeks for your body to even start consuming fat. At the same time you will be strengthening your muscles which considerably outweigh fat. Don’t expect to see any real results on the scale for quite some time. The proof initially will be in how your clothes fit. You should find that what you weigh really is irrelevant. It’s all about how you look and how your clothes fit right?
You have a choice to make. Being miserable during your diet in an attempt to lose weight in four weeks that took you eight months to gain and ultimately gain it all back six months after you come off your diet. Or make the decision to change your life forever. To make a slow manageable start to eating better and exercising. Just remember, if it were easy to look good it wouldn’t be so special to get there!
take the time to read this through before you do anything.

Don’t even think of it like that, lose 10 pounds first, you’ll get a good feeling of what it’s like and that’ll help you feel motivated to get into uber-weight-loss mode, the pounds will just shred off after that.

[Personal story: I was 210, smoked lots of weed, ate lots of junk food, got serious, ate lots of eggs, lost 10 pounds, felt amazing & now my diet and cardio workouts are stricter than ever.. plus the drugs are all gone, smoke it all, haha]

I would recommend avoiding the snacks… completely… potato chips/cookies… yes, that, the sweet goodness needs to go straight into the garbage (I saw this kid today with a sign that says, “honk if you like cookies”)

Anyways, what i do recommend is that you start yourself out with just 1500 calories a day, and as each week goes by, lower it by 100 until your at 1100/day.

I’ve created a 1100 calorie schedule that’s fit around my schedule, i’ll post it for you & you can use it as a guide line. (im a 187lb male, 19 yrs old, college)
———————————————————
Breakfast (@ 7:30am)
-3 egg whites – 51 calories
-1 chicken tender – 75 calories
-¼ cup of oatmeal – 75 calories
2+ cups of water
(Multi-vitamin, calcium & vitamin c supplements get taken after breakfast)

-½ of a “honey and oat” bar – 90 calories
16 oz bottle of water

Lunch (@ 12:30pm)
-1 can of tuna – 150 calories
-¼ cup of oatmeal – 75 calories
-1 slice of cheddar cheese – 100 calories
2+ glasses of water

Before workout (~2:00pm)
-The other ½ of my “honey and oat” bar – 90 calories
16 oz bottle of water

After cardio workout (~about 3:30.)
-1 apple – 50 calories
1+ glass of water

Dinner (@ about 6:30ish)
-Tofu & pork dish – 300 calories
2+ glasses of water

Before Bed (@9:45pm)
-1/4 cup of cottage cheese – 45 calories

You should stop looking at things in pounds and calories. Weight is distinguishing how much force you are exerting on the Earth, and I’m sure the Earth doesn’t care. Eat healthy- low sugars, low fats, MORE veggies/fruits and proteins. And just work out regularly- the weight will drop, but I don’t know if you can drop 50 lbs in 4 months. OH! And eat more often- smaller means. This will boost your metabolism and you’ll lose weight from that. And if you can get to the gym- muscles work more fat off you then anything else. Things take time. And working out will make you happy. It releases endorphins. People are attracted to happy people no matter the size. Make life choices, not moment choices.

You should only lose about a pound to a pound in a half per week. I would def. talk to your doctor first though before you start a diet. Join a fitness club or work out on your own and cut out all unhealthy snacks and switch to fat free or light. Take all the soda out and drink lots and lots of water! Do not be depressed, I am sure that you are beautiful. It may seem like it is taking forever for the pounds to drop but be patient and do it the healthy way. The last thing you want is to go on a crash diet and than gain the weight back plus more. Good luck and have confidence in yourself!
