Lose 50 Pounds FAQ:
Ok, I have started a really low calorie diet, of 500 calories a day. I jog/ walk fast on a treadmill, for 25 minutes a day, and it tells me how many calories i am burning off. I burn about 100 calories off, Should i push for more? Or am i going to lose weight doing this? I am not a very active person, and I am over weight. I know 1 pounds weighs something like 3500 calories. Should i strive for more jogging? I take zantrex 3 to get a lil more of an energy boost. Do you think I will lose 50 pounds in 5 months? I break a sweat while beingo n the treadmill. Does anyone know any good diet web sites or something that can calculate the weight ill lose if i type in 500 calories and i work off 100? I need to find an online partner or support group that’s free, cause i dont have the support of my family. Thanks.

500 cals will NOT let your body function safely. Eat 1200. If you eat less, your body will just store everything you eat to fat. (the opposite of what you want).
Your body can sense when it is going thru starvation.
Hey! Am I reading this right? A 500 calorie a day diet? Please don’t tell me you’re doing a 500 cal/day diet. That is very unhealthy, and you are actually doing more harm than good. By consuming 500 calories, you’ll be slowing your metabolism which will only make it harder for you to lose weight. You see, the body is smart enough to realize that since it’s only getting 500 measly calories, it needs to start working as a less efficient calorie burning machine. And so, your metabolism slows, and although you may lose a bit of weight in the short term, you will actually not lose weight long term. And what’s worse, you stand to lose a lot of muscle by eating a 500 cal/day diet, which is reallyyyyy bad. Up your intake to AT LEAST 1,200 or 1,400. You can still lose weight eating much more than 500 calories.
Good Lord - I’m suprised you haven’t had a heart attack! You can’t maintain that level of activity and lack of food for very long. Why don’t you keep up the exercise and eat 1200 calories a day. The weight will take longer to come off but you can maintain that lifestyle change more easily.
Flawless you got to stop with this math quiz! You need some serious guidance.Zantrex will do more harm than good-read the side effects.check out this site for a sensible program that may help you.www.4fatloss.info
well i would gladly support your efforts but your 500cal a day is NOT healthy, at all! check this site out:
good luck!
500 calories a day is not healthy, you should be consuming around 2000 calories a day, losing weight is not about stop eating is about balancing your meals, you’re doing great with the exercise but you shouldn’t need energy boost, listen to your body don’t over exercise.
Losing 50 pounds in 5 months it’s possible but not recommended, you should try losing AT MOST 2 pounds a week.
Don’t get frustrated if you don’t lose the weight you expect, sometimes it takes longer just remember always eat balanced foods and don’t starve yourself that won’t do you any good, and please don’t take diet pills I know they are tempting but they aren’t safe.
At the very least you need to eat 1000 calories per day. Everyone else here has given you the medical reasoning, so I’m going to appeal to you interest here: if you eat less than 1000 calories, you’re body will start a starvation/survival mode metabolism, and it will be much harder to lose weight, even with the jogging!
Instead of doing this, you can try cutting out refined starches (white breads and rices), animal fats (red meat), and junk food from your diet. Stick to whole grains, fruits, vegetables and fish. I’ve seen people lose 20 lbs in a single month by eating healthy and jogging for a half an hour a day. I know it’s rough to stay away from junk food, but it’s a lot easier than getting into a starvation/binging cycle. Besides, you’ll look better and lose more weight by taking care of your body.
In any case, I’m also trying to drop a significant amount of weight (I’m shooting for 40 lbs), and I’ll be more than happy to share tips and support if you need a weight loss buddy.
First of all i agree that you should not be doing 500 cals/ day. While i disagree with the other answers on its effectiveness. You will drop way more than that in five months, IF you can stay on the diet. Pretty soon you’ll start craving really bad or you will start bingeing. You are actually probably burning off more than that in 25 mins if you are going at a fast pace, the treadmill is not accurate because it is an estimate of what an “average” woman weighs. There arent any websits that will tell you how much youll lose if you type in all your info. The reason they dont do this is because you cant accurately estimate that for one person. From personal experience eating 600 cals a day and walking at a moderate pace 2 times a day i have lost from 2-4 lbs a day. I dont in anyway suggest you do this. If you continue let me tell you what will happen… First youll feel really good seeing the numbers on the scale go down, but then soon you wont even be happy with lost weight you will only think about how much is left to lose. You will become obsessive with your calorie intake and output and your weight will define you. For example if you gained weight or stayed the same after all that hard work you will have a terrible day, if you lost weight it will be an ok day. Then soon you will hit a plateau because your body needs less and less to lose weight when you go on an extreme diet like this. Plus it slows your metabolism WAY down. Plus your body will begin to eat your muscle tissue and not fat for energy one the “starvation mode” kicks in. So please if you are already doing this please stop before it is too late.
